Rising temperature, pollution, deforestation are the major aspects of the ongoing climate crisis. The efforts that we take to conserve our planet today will pave the road for a better tomorrow.
It is our endeavour at The Blue Roof Club to reduce our carbon footprint and lean towards the use of sustainable energy.
Now’s the time to be kinder to the environment!
Solar energy systems/power plants do not produce air pollution or greenhouse gases. Using solar energy can have a positive, indirect effect on the environment when solar energy replaces or reduces the use of other energy sources that have larger effects on the environment.
We have a 180 kw solar energy system installed through the structures of the property which takes care of 90% of the power usage.
Organic waste generates methane, a potent greenhouse gas. By composting wasted food and other organics, methane emissions are significantly reduced. Compost reduces and in some cases eliminates the need for chemical fertilizers.
After dry and wet waste is separated the wet waste is collected in large containers. A specific compound which accelerates the degradation of the waste into manageable organic granules is added. This process turns the waste into fertilizers which is used for the gardens trees and plants across our properties.
Afforestation is the establishment of a forest or stand of trees in an area where there was no previous tree cover.
We have planted and groomed more than 15,000 trees across our properties.
The rainwater that accumulates on the terraces of the structures drains through a channel of pipes that lead to water harvesting pits. The water that is collected in these pits is drained into the ground which charges the groundwater levels.
Groundwater ReplenishmentWe have kept more than 80% of our area open and unpaved which helps in rain water percolation and recharges our ground water. This is also enhanced by level contouring so that water accumulation is achieved.
